Terms of Use
Nutrition Loop is a nutrition education app. It explains the meals you already eat so that you eventually stop needing it. It is not a medical device, it does not give medical advice, and it does not diagnose or treat anything. By installing or using the app you agree to these terms. If you download the app from the Apple App Store, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement also applies to your licence to use it, and these terms supplement it.
Who provides the app
Nutrition Loop is provided by Spencer Depas (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@nutritionloop.app.
What the app is, and what it is not
The app produces an educational report about a meal you describe: a score, the reasoning behind it, the nutrition concepts the meal demonstrates, and suggested improvements.
- It is general nutrition education. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for a physician or a registered dietitian.
- Reports are generated by a large language model and can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Treat them as a starting point for your own judgement, not as instructions.
- Nutrient figures are estimates derived from generic food data. They are not laboratory measurements of the food you actually ate.
- If you are pregnant, have a medical condition, take medication, or have a history of disordered eating, talk to a qualified professional before changing how you eat. Never use the app to make decisions about medication.
- The app is not for emergencies. If you think you have a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.
Who may use it
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to enter a binding contract where you live. The app is not directed at children under 13.
No account
There is no sign-up and no login. Your profile, meals, and reports live on your device. If you delete the app or reset your profile, that content is gone — we cannot restore it for you. See the Privacy Policy for what is and is not sent off your device.
Free analyses and Premium
New installs get a fixed number of free meal analyses. Beyond that, Premium is an auto-renewing subscription.
- The price, billing period, and what is included are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account (or Google Play account) at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time in your Apple Account or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period you are already in. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us.
- Premium raises your daily analysis limit. It is deliberately capped rather than unlimited — the cap is a product decision, not a fault.
- We may change prices or what Premium includes. Changes apply from your next renewal, and we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
Acceptable use
Don’t do these things:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app, or work around its limits, rate limits, or paywall.
- Use the app or our servers to generate content unrelated to your own nutrition, or to build or train a competing product.
- Submit another person’s health information without their permission.
- Resell, redistribute, or automate access to the analysis service.
- Use the app in any way that breaks the law where you are.
Your content
The meals and health details you enter remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service — to process what you submit, and to pass it to our providers, in order to produce your report and return it to you. We do not sell your data. What we store, and for how long, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Our content
The app, its design, its food database, and the wording of its reports are ours or our licensors’. You may use the reports you generate for your own personal purposes. You may not republish them commercially or present them as professional dietary advice.
Availability
Meal analysis requires an internet connection and depends on services we do not control. We do not promise the app will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue Premium entirely, we will stop billing for it.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any health outcome, dietary decision, or loss of data arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Termination
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it (cancel your subscription separately, in your store account). We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms.
Apple
For apps obtained from the App Store, the following applies:
- This agreement is between you and us only — not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Your licence to use the app is the non-transferable licence to use it on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim about the app — including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in New York County, New York have exclusive jurisdiction — except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence gives you rights you cannot be deprived of by contract.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, we will update the effective date above and post the revised version at this address. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the change.
